Thought of you today and smiled - TPE188

Happy Wednesday - here we are in the middle of the week already!  Where does the time go?  We had a snowstorm yesterday, and as the storm progressed throughout the day, our patients cancelled and for those brave enough who wanted to brave the roads, we rescheduled for a later date!
It doesn't happen very often, but we got out early! :)

This card was created based off of this week's challenge at TPE - anything goes.  I love that creative freedom - don't you?  :)

DP's from Crate Paper/Maggie Holmes, paper flower from Prima, wood frame from Maya Road, cardstock, button, twin and stamp from PTI, misc. crocheted trim, seam binding ribbon and decorative pins.

Thanks for taking a peek - have a great day!  Cathy xxx :)

birthday wishes- RS52

Hello, and happy Tuesday!  Yesterday, I attended the tasting of the menu for my daughter Courtney's
wedding, and I am happy to say that the menu has
been chosen - one more thing to mark off the list!

We arrived home late, but I was able to complete this card based off of this week's challenge at Retro Sketches.  What a fun challenge - we were able to choose from our favorites of the past 52 sketches. For my card, I chose week 19.

DP's and stamp from MME, cardstock, sentiment stamp and buttons from PTI, baker's twine from The Twinery.

Thanks for taking a peek - enjoy your day!  Cathy xxx :)

You're Out of this WORLD! - FTL229

Good Morning and Happy Monday!  I took the day off today so that I could join my daughter for a tasting of the menu choices for her wedding, but that's not until a little later, so why not get atleast one card made?!?

This card was created based off of this week's sketch at Clean & Simple.  I am really trying my hand at this technique - clean and simple.  It is much harder than it looks.  I still want to add, buttons, bows, chipboard, etc.  I keep telling myself "clean girl - go simple" - HA! :)

DP's, spaceship stamp and chipboard star from MME/Boy Crazy (oh so cute), star diecut and sentiment stamp from PTI, baker's twine from The Twinery and misc. buttons.

Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card and jump into the shower!  Have a great week - Cathy xxx :)

Happy Sunday!  A beautiful bright and sunny day in Chicago today, but looks can be deceiving!  It's chilly! :)

This card was created based off of the sketch for Week 1. Just a quick review.....DP's from MME, cardstock, button, twine and stamp from PTI, misc. paper doily, flower cabochon and decorative pins.

This card was created based off of the sketch for Week 2.  I am loving this color scheme and DP's from Teresa Collins!  Cardstock , twine, button, ribbon and stamps from PTI, decorative pin from My Memory Keepers and mini parcel from Jolee's.

Week 3 - I decided to go a little shabby on this one.  DP's from Prima as well as the clock, resin bird and a couple of the flowers.  Cardstock, sentiment stamp from PTI, Paris stamp from Cavallini Papers, misc. seam binding ribbon, paper doily and rhine stone button.

And lastly, Week 4.  I love the bright fun colors of this card - DP's from American Crafts as well as the adhesive badge.  Cardstock, twine, felt, diecuts and stamps from PTI, misc. shabby seam binding ribbon and button.

Hello Sunshine - PDCC170 and Unscripted Sketches199

Happy Saturday!  What a coincidence that PDCC should choose this color scheme this week!  I just ordered this set of Baker's Twine from The Twinery earlier this week, and I was hoping to receive it in today's mail to use for this challenge.  Unfortunately, the mailman has come and gone, and no package
for me! :(  That's okay....I'll make due with what I have! :)

This card was created based off of this week's color scheme at PDCC and sketch from Unscripted Sketches.  DP's from OA, Simple Stories and Girl's Paperie, decorative bottle cap from Bottle Cap, Inc., adhesive badge from American Crafts, baker's twine from The Twinery, misc. denim brad and crocheted trim.

Vintage Strawberries - Cardabilities69

Just a quick post and run........my DH is on his way home to take me out to dinner.  Nothing fancy - just a local Friday night fish fry in town - but yummy! :)

This card was created based off of this week's challenge at Cardabilities.  I beginning to think that they must go to sleep at night and dream of beautiful sketches!  The sketches that I have worked with are just beautiful - not your everyday circle and squares - so thank you Cardabilities! :)

DP's and vintage label from Crate Paper - Maggie Holmes, cardstock, diecuts, felt, button and twine from PTI, misc. paper doily and pearl adhesives.

Thanks for taking a peek - off to freshen up for my date! Have a wonderful evening - Cathy xxx :)

birthday wishes - MOJO281

TGIF!  As predicted.......I awoke to a snow covered landscape this morning - about 4 inches to be exact.  We certainly missed the blizzard-like conditions that the Midwest was hit with, but now the weatherman is predicting more snow later in the week.
I don't know how Chicago has been so lucky the past two years to have such mild and minimal precipitation, but I'm not complaining! :)

This card was created for this week's challenge at MOJO Monday.  Circles are tough and three impossible!......well, this is what I came up with.

DP's from Teresa Collins (I just love this line!), cardstock, stamps and ink from PTI, decorative pin Maya Road, paper flower Prima, misc. paper doily and seam binding ribbon.

Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card!  Enjoy your day - Cathy xxx :)

DP's from MME, stamps, dies, buttons and ink from PTI, baker's twine from The Twinery, misc. felt ricrac.

Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card!  Have a wonderful evening - Cathy xxx :)

Happy Easter - MFTWSC111

"Just another Manic Monday"......but I did have time to squeeze one card in this evening, and it's probably a good thing, because the wind is howling and the lights are flickering!  They are predicting another ice storm for this evening turning into snow by the morning.  Yuck!  I am so ready for Spring! :)

This card was created based off of this week's sketch at MFT's.  I tried the Pointillism Technique that was taught by Michelle at MFT Academy this past week.  This is a texture-building technique using your Copic markers.  It was the first time that I tried it and it's not as easy as it looks, but it was fun and I will certainly try it again.

DP's from American Crafts/Amy Tangerine, stamps from MFT, misc. button and twine.  Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card.  Have a great week - Cathy xxx :)

Mother - Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge

The dishes are done, lunches are packed and the last load of laundry is in the dryer.  Just in time to complete my card for
Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenge.  I wanted to make more than one card, but time simply didn't allow for it.  I decided to work with this sketch and ink up my Simply Jane stamps and dies.  This is one of those sets that I absolutely had to have, and until today, I haven't used it.  I can honestly say, I will be using it again.  I love the lines of the silhoutte!  I also used one of the sentiment stamps from Woman of Life.  This set I have used over and over again for all the woman in my life! :)

DP's from Authentique, cardstock, stamps and die from PTI, paper flower from Prima, misc. seam binding ribbon, decorative pins, pearl adhesives and paper doily.

Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card.  Have a great week - Cathy xxx :)

Happy Easter - Whimsie Doodles/January

Happy Sunday!  Cloudy, grey and rainy here today in Chicago with temperatures in the 40's.  What better place to spend it than in my studio creating!
Creating always brings a ray of sunshine! :)

This card was created based off of this month's challenge at Whimsie Doodles.  I recently purchased a darling little image from them, but created another Easter card not realizing they also have a blog that had a monthly challenge.  That image was used for another challenge blog that I will be highlighting later today.

DP's from MME, digital image from DigiStampCharacters, cardstock and button from PTI, and Baker's Twine from The Twinery.

Wish - SSC89

Good morning and Happy Sunday!  I awoke this morning to yet another snowfall.  Amazing, no snow all winter long and yet the past two days that's all it seems to be doing!  Today's the big Superbowl!!  We are having a few family members over - nothing big.  What's on the menu ......Appetizers - Homemade Spinach/Artichoke Dip and my daughter's favorite Chili Cheese Dip.  Main Menu - Rootbeer Pulled Pork sandwiches, my delicious Cowboy Baked Beans and Party Potato's.  Dessert - I tried a new recipe (Pineapple and Orange Cake) that is actually low-calorie and supposedly you won't even be able to tell the difference - I'll get back to you on that later! ;)

This card was created based off of this week's sketch at Chupa's - Sketchbook Saturday.  I love this sketch, but yet I loved the sketch before this one and before that one!  All of Chupa's sketches are wonderful to work with - give it a try!

DP's from MME, mini doily Martha Stewart, tickets from Tim Holtz, misc. seam binding ribbon, decorative brad, hairpin and burlap.

You make my days brighter - SSS196

Good morning and Happy Saturday! We woke up this morning to a couple of inches of snow.  It is our first snowfall this year of over an inch!  Having grown up in the Chicago area, these past two winters have been a little strange for me.  Much warmer temps and very little snowfall.  I'm not complaining - if I could I would pack up tomorrow and leave winter for good! :)

This card was created based off of the sketch at SSS.  I love anything that has to do with banners - so I just had to play along!

DP's from MME, cardstock, twine and stamp from PTI, misc. paper doily and cabochon.

Thanks for taking a peek - enjoy your day!  Cathy xxx :)

I Love You This Big - FreshlyMade71

Just poppin' in quick with another card!  This card was created based off of this week's sketch at Freshly Made. Yes....I'm a newbie! :)  I've been peeking in each week, and I love the sketches - not to mention the DT's creations are so inspirational!

As I said in my earlier post, I received a package of goodies from MFT and the stamp used in this card is one of them!  This stamp reminded me so much of my Grandson - Trevor Patrick.
So, I was sold! :)

DP's are so treasured scraps from Girl's Paperie, cardstock, ribbon, twine and button from PTI, image and sentiment stamp from MFT.

TGIF!!  Its bone chilling (7 degrees) here in Chicago today, and I think it's safe to say winter has finally arrived!  After our near 60 degree day this week, and only an inch or two of snow, I did have my doubts!  :)

This card was based off of this week's sketch at Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  It has been awhile since I have played along, and I just received my goodies yesterday from MFT's.  This darling little stamp set came from them, and I couldn't wait to ink it up! :)
